About My Company

Pika Design
Established in 2008, Pika Design has been offering marketing services to the local real estate and non-profit sector for over 10 years. The company name is a humorous play on words.
Pica (pai-kuh) is a design term – a typographic unit of measurement used in publication design.
Pika (same pronunciation) is a delightful creature, the tiniest relative of the rabbit. Pikas are significant for me because they’re ever present on my hikes into the high country.

A little about me…
I’m Amber McKeague and I live at the fantastic elevation of 8,209 ft. I have a degree in International Business, but after moving to Snowmass Village (during the infancy of the World Wide Web), I became fascinated with graphic design and creative software apps.
My mom is an artist and my father is a university math PhD whose dissertation in the 60’s was “computers in education”. My interest in creative digital design was inevitable.
Over the years, I’ve managed marketing and design projects for non-profits (including Trashmasters International), for local real estate companies (Chaffin Light, Aspen Snowmass SIR, CBMM, BJ Adams & Co), for realtors, photographers, restaurants, financial planners, marketing groups, governmental agencies, homeowners associations.
I have a passion for learning, for all things Adobe, for nature and being outside, for climbing mountains, hiking in the desert and scuba diving the sea, for books about finding your groove, and I love coming up with new ideas and being creative. I’m incredibly grateful for access to online courses and for YouTube!
Some random facts…
I was born in Minneapolis.
I grew up in Athens, Georgia.
When I came to Colorado for the first time, I felt like I was “home”. I’ve lived in Snowmass Village ever since.
I like to hike every day, summer and winter.
I’m a scuba diver and am fascinated by the sea creatures. After every dive, I document what I saw.
I have been skydiving in Moab and have a video to prove it.
I have been journaling since I was 8 when I received a “Dear Diary” for my birthday.
When I hear the song of a chickadee, it reminds me to be in the present. And because of where I live, I’m reminded by my cute buddies often.
My husband, Phil, and I forage for wild mushrooms. We love finding golden chanterelles. One autumn I found rare “blue chanterelles” on 2 separate occasions. Eureka!
